G-quadruplexes are non-canonical secondary structures formed by G-rich DNA and RNA sequences that are of considerable interest because of their potential involvement in cancer initiation, development and treatment. Their role in genome dynamics and stability, as well as in gene expression, makes understanding their regulation of paramount importance for basic and translational cancer research.
